Court Orders Christian Child Into Government Education

In a state where home schooling is legal, a court has ordered that a 10-year-old, homeschooled Christian child be forced into government education. One might assume that the court did this because she was not receiving the proper education in her homeschool environment. But this is not the case. The girl was ordered to attend a government school simply because she was too "vigorous" in defense of her Christian faith!
In regards to her scholastic and social abilities, the girl has been described as "well liked, social and interactive with her peers, academically promising, and intellectually at or superior to grade level".
The story, as reported by Bob Unruh of WorldNetDaily, quotes that during the negotiating terms of the plan, a guardian ad litem appointed to participate concluded the girl "appeared to reflect her mother's rigidity on questions of faith" and that the girl's interests "would be best served by exposure to a public school setting" and "different points of view at a time when she must begin to critically evaluate multiple systems of belief ... in order to select, as a young adult, which of those systems will best suit her own needs."
The story further quotes that the decision from Martial Master Michael Garner reasoned that the girl's "vigorous defense of her religious beliefs to [her] counselor suggests strongly that she has not had the opportunity to seriously consider any other point of view", and proposed that the girl be ordered into public school after considering "The impact of [her religious] beliefs on her interaction with others." A New Hampshire judge then approved the recommendation.
The full story, as reported by WorldNetDaily, can be read by clicking here. So, the court system in New Hampshire decides that a child MUST consider other points of view, regardless of the views and beliefs of the parents. I cannot help but wonder if the court would rule the same way with a child of Muslim beliefs. If that were to happen, there would be an uproar not only in the Muslim community, but in the media as a whole. No, this is yet again an attack on Christianity, and we can expect more of the same. |
