Nuclear Attack on the United States

The people in the United States are very complacent. They here of the dangers against their country, and they even express a concern of those dangers. However, deep down they do not truly realize, nor believe, that a nuclear attack on the United States is possible and probable. Much like a naive child, people believe that this sort of horror will happen to someone else and never them. In addition, they have no idea what would happen to this country if such an event took place. A single nuclear device, detonated in a key location, would bring the entire country down to its knees. Reports of such an outcome have been produced, but have been largely ignored.
The government is also somewhat delusional. With all of the evidence clearly staring them in the face, they bog themselves down with 'investigations', speculations, and with false hopes of somehow finding a peaceful solution. Finally, their preparedness for such an event is truly lacking.
A recent article on newsmax.com which discusses a recent Senate committee investigation is a prime example of all of this. The story is presented as if it should be earth-shaking news that we are in danger of a nuclear attack. It also presents the vain efforts of our government to lessen the loss of life if it were to occur. All-in-all, the story is very lacking and just displays another 'investigation' by our government officials that is primarily for show, and will result in nothing. As mentioned before, there are plenty of accurate reports that inform the people of what they need to know. But, even with this knowledge, the people as a whole would go on with their lives not truly believing such a thing is likely to occur, at least in their lifetime.
